Registered Nurse (RN) – Trauma ICU
Location
Omaha, NE
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days (06:30–18:30) and Nights (18:30–06:30) available | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients (15+) in an 18-bed Trauma ICU, including those presenting with trauma injuries, sepsis, stroke, ARDS, MODS, COPD, and cardiac arrest
- Titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics per physician orders and unit protocols
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry; no monitor techs on unit
- Manage and troubleshoot a range of respiratory therapy equipment from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilators
- Operate and monitor advanced hemodynamic devices including A-lines, CVPs, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, IABP, Impella, Zoll-Thermoguard, and Bell Mont rapid transfuser
- Float to inpatient units across the facility as needed, excluding Maternity and NICU
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted RN license
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required at time of submittal
- Prior ICU experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Ability to pass an open-book, skills-based unit orientation exam with a minimum score of 90%
- Must comply with facility fingernail policy — artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
- Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with advanced hemodynamic monitoring including IABP, Impella, Swans, and ICP monitoring
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with excellent interpersonal communication skills
