Registered Nurse – ICU (Med Surg ICU)

Omaha, NE
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days (6:30 AM – 6:30 PM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced ICU setting serving adult and pediatric patients (15+) with diagnoses including respiratory failure, ARDS, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, GI bleeds, and post-surgical conditions
- Titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry using Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry; no monitor techs on unit
- Manage and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilators
- Maintain and manage invasive lines and monitoring including CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, and ICP monitoring
- Float to all inpatient units as needed, excluding Maternity/NICU; participate in every-other-weekend and holiday rotation
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently
- Compliance with facility dress code (navy blue scrubs) and infection control policies, including prohibition of artificial nails in all patient care areas
- Must successfully pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with neuro surgery, thrombectomy programs, CRRT, Impella, or intra-aortic balloon pump (training available for qualified candidates)
- Familiarity with hypothermia protocols, rapid transfusion devices, or specialized oncology surgical care
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented, high-acuity environment
