Registered Nurse – IMC / IICU (Intermediate Intensive Care)
Location
Columbia, SC
Schedule / Job Type
Contract (13 or 26 weeks available) | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients including trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology cases requiring monitoring or interventions every 1–2 hours
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, and management of dysrhythmias
- Manage titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips and provide ventilator management as required by patient acuity
- Receive and stabilize direct admissions, ICU transfers, and escalations from Rapid Response Teams
- Utilize specialized equipment including Hercules patient re-positioners, ceiling lifts, and Airtaps
- Float to other qualified units or campuses as needed based on census demands, performing only tasks within documented competencies
Required Qualifications
- Active South Carolina RN license or active multistate (Compact) RN license required — pending licensure not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 completed travel assignment; first-time travelers must have 3 years of specialty experience with critical care background
- Previous IICU or ICU experience with a patient ratio of at least 1:3 required; progressive care settings (PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown) considered based on acuity
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, vasoactive drip titration, and ventilator management
- Active certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a Level I Trauma Center or high-acuity teaching hospital environment
- Familiarity with Rapid Response Team protocols and ICU-to-step-down transition care
- Experience with neurology patient populations including stroke care
