Registered Nurse – ICU
Location
Kearney, NE
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday) | Minimum of 2 holidays within the contract period
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed ICU with an average daily census of 16, maintaining a 1:2–3 nurse-to-patient ratio for adult patients
- Manage and titrate a variety of drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
- Read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment, with tele tech oversight support
- Care for a diverse patient population including trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, overdose/substance abuse, post-stent, pacemaker placement, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
- Troubleshoot and assist with respiratory equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
- Float to PCU or occasionally MedSurg as needed, maintaining comparable patient ratios (1:4 or 1:5)
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Ability to arrive on-site within 30 minutes if called back in from on-call status
- Compliance with facility infection control policy: artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior ICU travel or staff nursing experience with high-acuity adult patient populations
- Experience titrating cardiac drips, insulin drips, and sedation protocols
- Familiarity with GE cardiac monitoring systems and strip interpretation
