Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown
Location
Omaha, NE
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days (0630–1900) | Onsite | 12-Hour Shifts | 6-Week Scheduling Cycle
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity PCU/Stepdown setting with a mixed medical, surgical, cardiac, and stroke patient population
- Titrate drips including Heparin, insulin, octreotide, Cardizem, nitroglycerin, and other IV infusions per protocol
- Read and interpret telemetry monitoring independently; respond appropriately to rhythm changes
- Manage frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges in a high-flow unit environment
- Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe, quality care
- Float to Med/Surg and other hospital departments, including ICU/ED, based on unit need and individual competency
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in good standing
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Ability to titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips
- Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry rhythms
- Must pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required as a condition of the contract
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or intermediate care setting with cardiac and stroke patient populations
- Familiarity with specialty equipment such as LUCAS devices, Hoyer lifts, and Sit-to-Stand lifts
- Experience working in high-volume units with rapid patient throughput
