Registered Nurse – ICU Neuro
Location
Charlotte, NC

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 3x12 Hours per Week | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit serving a comprehensive stroke center population, including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, and other complex neurological diagnoses
- Manage and monitor intracranial pressure (ICP) devices, external ventricular drains (EVD), lumbar drains, and other specialized neuro monitoring equipment including Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
- Administer and manage continuous IV sedation, blood products, and vasoactive medications in a critical care setting
- Assess, interpret, and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and hemodynamic changes in critically ill neurological patients
- Maintain ventilated patient care, central line care and management, and arterial line monitoring
- Float within or near the facility as needed per unit requirements, and work every other weekend
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required; general ICU experience alone will not be considered
- Strong neurological critical care background with experience managing stroke patients (ischemic, hemorrhagic), post-neurosurgery patients, and EVD/lumbar drain patients
- Proficiency with ventilator management, IV starts, central line care, ICP monitoring, and CVA/acute stroke management
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with arterial line management
- Familiarity with unit systems including Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
- Prior travel nursing experience in a Neuro ICU setting
