Registered Nurse – Pediatric Step-Down (Rehabilitation)

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | Day/Night Rotating Shifts (3x12, 07:00–19:30 / 19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend Required | Holidays Required as Scheduled
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric and adolescent patients on a mixed rehabilitation step-down unit, including those with diagnoses such as TBI, spinal cord injury, burns, feeding disorders, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and post-orthopedic surgical needs
- Manage patients requiring tracheostomy and ventilator support, including those with respiratory or cardiac conditionsFloat within specialty and to other departments as needed, including occasional coverage at an alternate campus
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams including speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy
- Maintain a patient assignment ratio of 1:4, delivering safe and effective care in a fast-paced environment
- Adhere to all unit scheduling requirements including rotating day and night shifts, every-other-weekend coverage, and holiday assignments as scheduled
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Maryland or a valid Compact RN license at time of submission
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
- Tracheostomy and ventilator management experience required
- BLS certification (American Heart Association only) required
- CPI certification required for compliance (Calm Every Storm online version is the only accepted online option)
- ACLS, PALS (AHA only), or NRP/AAP certification as applicable per unit compliance requirements
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Pediatric nursing experience, particularly with rehabilitation, neurological, or medically complex patient populations
- Experience caring for adolescent patients with diagnoses including MVA trauma, gunshot wounds, failure to thrive, or post-surgical rehabilitation needs
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
