Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the needs of each surgical patient and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care, adjusting as needed to maintain patient safety throughout the procedure.
  • Supervise activity within the operating room, anticipate and coordinate schedule changes, assemble required equipment and supplies, and monitor the sterile field.
  • Assist anesthesia personnel as necessary during surgical procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, the OR team, supervisors/managers, and ancillary departments.
  • Participate in staff development by attending in-services, educational meetings, staff meetings, and seminars to support professional growth and leadership opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in an Operating Room setting.
  • Level II Trauma experience required.
  • Proficiency in Orthopedics, Vascular, Neurosurgery, General/GYN, and Urology surgical specialties.
  • Active Michigan RN license (verified Active status via LARA and/or Nursys).
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Current skills checklist (within the past year) pertinent to the Operating Room specialty, along with two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Recent travel nursing experience highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Epic EMR.
