Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:30) | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a non-aggregated ICU setting serving Medical, Surgical, Coronary Care, Neuro, and Trauma patient populations (adults and geriatrics) at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Manage high-acuity Neuro and Trauma interventions, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips; operate and manage specialized equipment including IABP, CRRT, EVD, and Arctic Sun/cooling blanket systems
- Float to IMC or other appropriate critical-care areas within scope and competency based on facility needs (IMC ratio may be 1:4)
- Document patient care accurately using the Cerner electronic health records system
- Complete required orientation modules virtually on the first day of contract and annual modules as required for ICU RN designation
Required Qualifications
- Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of Critical Care experience required; Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU experience required
- Level II Trauma experience required
- ACLS, BLS, and NIH stroke scale certifications required
- ATCAR or equivalent trauma education required (facility-approved trauma course may satisfy this requirement)
- Prophecy Relias Advanced EKG assessment required with a passing score prior to contract start — must be submitted by the agency; local candidates are welcome to apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Prior experience with IABP, CRRT, EVD, and temperature management/cooling devices
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records system
