Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 36-bed Telemetry unit with a standard ratio of 4:1 (with cath recovery) and a maximum ratio of 6:1–7:1
- Monitor patients using remote telemetry monitors and Alaris pumps; document care using the Meditech system
- Assist with or support procedures performed on the unit including chest tube insertions, bedside paracentesis, and thoracentesis
- Apply knowledge of chest tube management and dysrhythmia recognition in the care of telemetry patients
- Adhere to unit-specific policies including the Telemetry Monitoring Policy and Stroke Policy
- Float to Ortho/Med-Surg as needed per unit floating policy (agency staff float first)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (or compact eligibility) in the state of Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Ability to work every other weekend as part of the scheduling requirement
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with remote telemetry monitoring systems
- Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation
- Prior experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and chest tube management
