Contract | Rotating Day/Night Shifts | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:30 / 19:00–7:30) | Every Other Weekend Rotation | Holidays as Needed
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving an adult and geriatric population under a Family Medicine service with a variety of conditions and diagnoses
- Care for patients within a secured unit environment, including those from Department of Corrections facilities, always accompanied by a corrections officer while assisting these patients
- Perform IV insertions and manage peripheral IV access as a routine component of patient care
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms, including identification of lethal arrhythmias; must pass a Telemetry competency exam prior to start
- Float to other units as needed based on staffing requirements
- Document all patient care accurately using the EPIC electronic health records system
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license required
- BLS certification required – American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last 3 years in Medical Surgical/Telemetry
- Demonstrated experience starting IVs required
- EPIC electronic health records experience required
- Must pass a Telemetry competency exam (adult and pediatric components) prior to start; passing score of 80% or higher with 100% identification of lethal rhythms required
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for geriatric patient populations
- Familiarity with cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- Experience working in a secured or specialty unit environment
