Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, fast-paced, non-trauma emergency department serving patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics
- Manage a patient assignment of up to 1:4 (up to 1:5 with lower acuity) across a 66-bed emergency department with an average census of approximately 200 patients
- Staff and rotate within a 10-bed ED Hold/Observation unit embedded within the ER department, with ratios of 1:5 (up to 1:6 with lower acuity)
- Float within the emergency specialty, including the ED Hold/Observation unit, as needed
- Work required holidays as scheduled; no pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
Required Qualifications
- Active Maryland RN license or active Compact RN license at time of submission
- BLS certification required – American Heart Association only
- ACLS certification required – American Heart Association only
- PALS certification required – American Heart Association only
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- CPI certification required – The Calm Every Storm online version is the only acceptable online vendor
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required; first-time travelers with strong ED experience will be considered
- Must reside 50 or more miles from the facility to be eligible (permanent address must be 50+ miles away)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with EPIC EMR strongly preferred
- Comfort managing complex, multi-diagnosis patient populations in a high-acuity emergency setting
- Experience floating within an emergency department or ED observation/hold unit
