Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 42-bed Medical Surgical unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 (occasionally 1:6)
- Care for a diverse patient population including total joints, orthopedic hip fractures, spine surgeries, urology procedures, general surgeries, GYN overflow, and medical overflow cases such as COPD, sepsis, and behavioral health
- Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes virtual tele techs and SpaceLab/Philips monitoring systems
- Manage common drips including heparin, PCAs, and morphine drips (titration of drips not required)
- Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs (1:8 ratio), and RT staff managing CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment
- May precept new travelers or nursing students as needed; willingness to do so should be noted during interview
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required
- BLS certification required
- EKG certification required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with orthopedic, surgical, or urology patient populations
- Comfort with precepting travelers or nursing students
- Familiarity with Philips monitoring systems
