Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Thoracic, Cardiac & Vascular)

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:00) | 13 Weeks
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgical patients in a combined 28-bed acute and intermediate care unit
- Monitor and manage intermediate-care patients including fresh lobectomies, CABG/valve, lung transplants, and AAA repairs who require advanced monitoring beyond standard acute care
- Administer and manage select cardiac drips and arterial lines as indicated
- Care for patients receiving thrombolytic therapy (TPA) and those transitioning from PACU or CVICU settings
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 4–5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in the intermediate care unit
- Float within scope of practice in accordance with facility float policy as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia RN license (pending license accepted; must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Nursys verification required at time of submission
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- BSN preferred
- Experience in a thoracic, cardiac, or vascular surgical care setting
- Familiarity with intermediate/step-down monitoring environments
