Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Medical Stroke unit with an average daily census of 26–28 patients and capacity to flex up to 35 beds
• Manage a patient ratio of 1:5–6 with support from Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
• Care for patients presenting with conditions including COPD, pneumonia, abdominal pain, stroke, and occasional surgical overflow including thyroidectomy
• Assist in the care of post-TPA stroke patients and lower-level stroke cases
• Accurately perform or support NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) assessments as applicable

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in West Virginia or a compact state
• Current BLS certification
• Experience in a Medical Surgical inpatient setting

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIHSS certification or demonstrated experience caring for stroke patients
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Prior travel nursing experience
