Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department seeing approximately 70–85 patients per day across adult and pediatric populations, maintaining a 1:4 RN-to-patient ratio
- Manage a mixed patient population including abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, chest pain, sepsis, CVA rule-out, and fall-related injuries and trauma within a designated trauma center environment (2 trauma bays)
- Monitor cardiac telemetry for all assigned patients via nurses' station displays; perform and interpret EKGs in collaboration with ED Techs
- Perform nurse-driven phlebotomy for approximately 95% of lab orders and coordinate patient transport to radiology as needed
- Manage ER holds for admission intermixed within the general ED patient population
- Document and coordinate care using Epic EMR; collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including ED physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, house supervisors, and ED Techs
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in good standing
- Minimum of 1–2 years of Emergency Department experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, and PALS
- Must successfully pass a facility orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher (open-book, pass/fail format)
- Compliance with facility fingernail policy: artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; a valid driver's license will be required at time of submittal to verify eligibility. Candidates currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility are not eligible.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Certification in ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) or NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Experience working in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department setting
- Familiarity with trauma bay workflows and trauma center protocols
- Proficiency with Epic EMR
