Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic)

Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:30) | Every other weekend required (6 weekend shifts per contract)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 26-bed orthopedic spine unit specializing in spinal surgeries including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies, with integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support
- Manage a patient population with diagnoses including Med/Surg, Telemetry, cardiac, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, DVT, and PE
- Perform and assist with special procedures including bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post renal biopsy, CT Angio, and Heparin drip management
- Maintain a patient ratio of 1:5–6 while delivering safe, high-quality orthopedic and telemetry nursing care
- Float to other qualified units or campuses as needed based on census, limited to areas matching documented competencies
- Complete required pre-assignment modules and annual compliance requirements within designated timeframes
Required Qualifications
- Active South Carolina RN license or active multistate compact license — pending licenses are not accepted
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in an orthopedic or Med/Surg Telemetry setting
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
- Must meet facility radius eligibility requirements to qualify for this travel assignment
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with orthopedic spine surgical patients and post-operative care protocols
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and cardiac patient management
- Experience with Heparin drip management and post-procedural cath care
