Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed Stepdown/PCU unit serving a diverse population including young adults through geriatrics with diagnoses such as sepsis, STEMI, CHF, stroke, COPD, DKA, renal failure, and complex multisystem conditions
- Titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Insulin, and IV antibiotics, as well as administer maintenance IV medications
- Monitor and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes telemetry/monitor support but RNs are required to read and interpret their own strips
- Manage BiPAP and Airvo respiratory therapy equipment as needed
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5, with CNA support at a 1:10 ratio; float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care as needed
- Participate in bedside report, hourly rounding, and a high-volume patient flow environment involving admissions and discharges within the same shift
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Must successfully pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required for contract continuation
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; a valid driver's license will be required at time of submittal to verify distance
- Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Stepdown, PCU, or IMC setting with exposure to complex, acutely ill patients
- Demonstrated ability to titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork orientation with a positive, patient-centered attitude and commitment to quality care
- Experience with telemetry interpretation and familiarity with BiPAP/high-flow respiratory support
