Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | Expected 36 hours/week | 13–26 week assignments accepted
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown/PCU unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, aortic and mitral valve conditions, cardiomyopathy, and vascular disorders
- Monitor and manage cardiac telemetry, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Perform and assist with specialized procedures including sheath removal, femoral sheath management, chest tube care (Emerson/Pleuravac), and epicardial pacing wire monitoring
- Manage cardiac drips and titrate vasoactive medications as indicated; provide pre/post cardiac catheterization care and post-DCCV and post-electrophysiology procedure care
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, TR band, Fem-stop, and external CPAP/BiPAP
- Document using EPIC, communicate via SBAR, and administer medications via Pyxis; adhere to unit float rotation and weekend requirements (4 weekends per 4-week period)
Required Qualifications
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required
- Travel nursing experience required unless the candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac-specific experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Local candidates are welcome; candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at an adjusted rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Arterial line management experience
- Wound care and wound VAC experience
- Charge nurse experience
