Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 24-bed Progressive Care Unit serving cardiac and vascular surgical populations, including CABG, ICD, pacemaker, and vascular surgical patients
- Manage and titrate cardiac drips including Nitroglycerin, Cardene, Heparin, Diltiazem, Dopamine, and others
- Monitor patients via telemetry with support from a tele tech monitoring unit; interpret and respond to cardiac rhythms
- Operate equipment including Alaris IV pumps and wound vacs
- Float across multiple campuses as needed
- Adhere to holiday coverage requirements — contractors may be expected to work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or multistate/compact license (must be verified active at time of submission)
- AHA or ARC BLS certification required
- AHA or ARC ACLS certification required
- Minimum 24 months of recent experience in Telemetry/Cardiac, Stepdown, or Progressive Care
- Experience with ICD and pacemaker patients required; CABG and vascular surgical patient experience required
- Cardiac drip/titration experience and cardiac rhythm interpretation experience required
- Experience with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and wound vacs required
- Must have completed at least one travel contract within the previous 18 months — first-time travelers are not accepted
- Level II Trauma experience required
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (verified by Driver's License)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Level I Trauma experience highly preferred
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
- Skills checklist specific to Telemetry/Cardiac, Stepdown, or Progressive Care preferred
