Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity cardiac and stroke unit managing diagnoses including unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA/TIA, and pre/post-procedure cardiac patients
• Manage and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone; care for patients post-PCI, pacemaker implantation, ICD placement, and cardiac catheterization
• Perform IV starts, continuous telemetry monitoring, and pulse oximetry management in a fast-paced environment with patient ratios of 1:5–6
• Care for patients requiring non-rebreather masks, high-flow O2, and chronic BiPAP use; utilize unit equipment including Pyxis, Epic (Dimensions), and SBAR communication
• Participate in on-call rotation based on patient census and fulfill float requirements within or near the facility as needed
• Meet weekend requirements (every other weekend) and scheduling obligations including 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per 6-week period; no block scheduling

Required Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a cardiac stepdown or comparable high-acuity setting with similar patient ratios and acuity levels
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
• Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, cardiac drip management, and pre/post-procedure cardiac care
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Local candidates are welcome and accepted at the same posted rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience titrating Cardizem drips and managing PCI patients
• Familiarity with Epic (Dimensions) electronic health records and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Comfort working in a high-volume unit with frequent patient turnover (typically 78–90 patients per week)
• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers also considered)
