Key Responsibilities
- Provide post-anesthesia nursing care to a diverse patient population in a 12-bed PACU unit
- Maintain a 2:1 patient ratio, delivering safe and effective recovery-phase monitoring and intervention
- Administer and titrate drips as required by patient condition and physician orders
- Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, responding appropriately to changes in patient status
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure smooth patient transitions from the PACU
- Comply with holiday scheduling requirements, including working 1–2 winter holidays unless the unit is closed
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license at time of submission
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC) – required
- ACLS certification (AHA) – required
- PALS certification (AHA) – required
- Minimum of 12 months of PACU/post-anesthesia care experience; work history must reflect 24 months of current PACU experience
- Experience in a hospital, medical center, same-day surgery, or outpatient surgery setting
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR
- Current and recent pediatric care experience
- Strong experience reading and measuring telemetry
- Drips and titration experience
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (verified by driver's license)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
- PACU-specific skills checklist completed at time of submission
- Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers may be considered based on skills and experience)
