Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a Level 4 NICU setting with a 71-bed unit, including 17 stepdown beds, caring for premature infants and neonates with cardiac defects, genetic disorders, surgical needs, ECMO, and cooling diagnoses
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:2 (ICU) and 1:3 (Level 2) in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including neonatologists, midlevels, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy available around the clock
  • Document and manage patient care using Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems
  • Float as needed to mother-baby and labor care units for infant care assignments
  • Complete a Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment, including Foley catheter insertion with strict maintenance of sterile field; competency in sterile technique is essential
  • Participate in weekend coverage, with an expected 4 weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) per 4-week period; holiday coverage based on unit needs

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience required; busy Level 3 experience may be considered
  • Minimum 3 years of total NICU experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • Demonstrated competency in sterile field technique, including Foley catheter insertion
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. (Cardiac) certification is a plus
  • Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems
  • Experience with ECMO and therapeutic cooling protocols
