Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-hour shifts | Expected 36 hours/week | 13-week assignment | Expected 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
Key Responsibilities
- Provide stepdown-level nursing care to medicine patients on a 32-bed unit, maintaining a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Perform central line management, IV starts, peripheral lab draws, and arterial blood draws
- Manage tracheotomy patients and provide respiratory management as needed
- Administer and monitor various intravenous drips including cardiac, insulin, and heparin infusions with continuous cardiac monitoring
- Collaborate with nursing assistants and the medical team; assignments are based on patient needs, geographic location, and available resources
- Complete required Relias competency exams upon booking (2 attempts allowed; failure of the second attempt may result in pre-start cancellation)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (Compact license accepted)
- BLS certification – American Heart Association
- ACLS certification – American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a PCU/stepdown or similar setting
- Travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Must reside at least 80 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with tracheotomy care and management
- Familiarity with cardiac monitoring and management of cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips
- Prior experience in a stepdown or intermediate care unit setting
