Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity Emergency Department serving a diverse patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, with an average of 140–150 patients per day
- Manage a wide range of emergency presentations including trauma, GSW, sepsis, STEMI, stroke, DKA, respiratory distress, chest pain, and adult psychiatric conditions
- Perform cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV insertion and management, procedural sedation, blood administration, and administration of cardiac medications and drips
- Document accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR; operate Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system
- Monitor patients via central and bedside telemetry at the nursing station; no telemetry technician on unit
- Maintain a patient ratio of 1:4, with the possibility of flexing to 1:5 for lower-acuity patients
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Washington
- Minimum 1 year of strong, recent Emergency Department experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI/MOAB
- Traveler Competency Exam (Traveler Telemetry Competency) must be completed and passed prior to start date
- Epic EMR proficiency required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a Level II Trauma Center environment
- Familiarity with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
- Experience caring for psychiatric patients in an ED setting
- Comfort working in a high-volume, high-acuity receiving facility
