Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0630–1830) | Nights available (1830–0630) | Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday) | Minimum of 2 holidays within contract period

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed ICU with an average daily census of 16, managing common diagnoses including trauma, cardiac conditions, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress, overdose/substance abuse, post-stent, pacemaker placement, and vascular cases
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2–3 for adult patients
• Titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation medications
• Read, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment, with tele tech oversight
• Manage patients on respiratory support ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation, troubleshooting RT equipment as needed
• Float to PCU or occasionally MedSurg as needed, maintaining comparable patient ratios (1:4 or 1:5)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Must successfully pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher (administered on Wednesdays)
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance is required as a condition of contract
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health, are not eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior ICU experience with complex, critically ill adult patients
• Experience titrating cardiac, insulin, and sedation drips in an acute care setting
• Familiarity with GE cardiac monitoring systems and strip interpretation
• Experience working with ventilated patients and advanced respiratory support equipment
