Travel RN – Med Step Down / Intermediate Care (Nights)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | Every other weekend required | No call requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for all age groups across a respiratory-heavy step down unit
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
- Manage patients presenting with respiratory failure, COPD, ETOH, overdose, GI bleed, electrolyte imbalance, and cancer diagnoses
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including Tracheostomy (Trach), Ventilator (Vent), VAPOTHERM, and BiPAP
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable nursing practice standards
- Float as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit; maintain professional accountability for provision of care delivered by direct care team members
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or hold an active Missouri RN license
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) — required
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) — required
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient Step Down experience
- Demonstrated Trach and Ventilator management experience — required for this unit
- Flu vaccination (or facility-approved exemption) required for assignments running November 1 through April 1
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with VAPOTHERM and BiPAP in an intermediate or step down care setting
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR
- Strong teamwork, dependability, and flexibility in a fast-paced clinical environment
