Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care in an outpatient oncology setting
- Assess patient and family readiness to learn, developmental level, and factors affecting education; utilize appropriate patient education materials for the oncology population
- Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care, communicate relevant information, and promote continuity of care
- Assess and anticipate discharge needs; consult appropriate resources for patients with complex care issues or high-risk discharge planning needs
- Participate in unit goal development, performance improvement activities, and cost-effective care initiatives while promoting a safe and secure environment
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC required
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy certification required
- Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience
- Oncology nursing experience required
- Outpatient (OP) nursing experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- BSN or MSN from an accredited school of nursing
- Experience working within interdisciplinary care teams in a complex patient care environment
