Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Key Responsibilities
- Float between PCU and Medical-Surgical units as staffing needs are re-evaluated; floating may occur up to every 4 hours within a shift — candidates must be comfortable working ALL PCU and MS units
- Provide stepdown-level care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titrating cardiac drips
- Manage central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
- Administer IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, and manage blood product administration, PCA and heparin protocols, and IV insulin
- Respond to emergencies as part of Rapid Response and Code teams
- Document patient care using EPIC; EPIC experience is required
Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Ability to work at least one holiday per 13-week contract period
- Weekend availability required — expected schedule may include every other weekend or up to 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for a single 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Background in telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU/DOU/IMC)
- Cardiovascular experience including pre- and post-cardiac catheterization settings
- Experience managing endocrine and metabolic conditions
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
