Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown/telemetry unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valvular conditions, cardiomyopathy, and vascular disorders
- Monitor and care for post-procedural patients following CABG, TAVR, Mitral Clip, carotid endarterectomy, post-cath, post-DCCV, pacemaker placements, and other cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries
- Operate and interpret specialized equipment including EKG, arterial lines, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, epicardial pacing wires, Doppler, and bladder scanner
- Document using EPIC, administer medications via Pyxis, and communicate using SBAR methodology
- Float to other units as needed and provide weekend coverage (expected 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period); must be willing to work holidays
- May be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
Required Qualifications
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending license acceptable for submission)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience required
- Local candidates (within 50 miles of facility) are welcome to apply; a local pay rate will apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Stepdown experience preferred
- Familiarity with sheath management and sheath removal
- First-time travelers with the required 2 years of cardiac experience are encouraged to apply
