Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (ED Holding / Float Pool)

Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36- or 48-hour contracts accepted | Every other weekend required | Must be available to work holidays
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to adult medical/surgical patients in an inpatient holding area located within the Emergency Department, supporting patients awaiting an inpatient bed
- Manage MS/Telemetry patient assignments at ratios of 1:6–1:7, with potential PCU-level patients at ratios of 1:3–1:4
- Float to ED and MedSurg areas as needed within and near the facility
- Operate standard unit equipment including cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and other monitoring systems; utilize Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR for medication administration, documentation, and communication
- Participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
- Wear navy scrubs and complete approximately 12 hours of on-site orientation plus required pre-start online modules
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state (pending licensure considered for submission)
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- MS/Telemetry and ED holding experience required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Must be able to maintain pace in a fast-moving, high-acuity environment with 1:6–1:7 patient ratios
- Local candidates (within 50 miles of the facility) are welcome to apply; a local pay rate will apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- CPI certification preferred
- Experience with PCU-level patients
- Familiarity with Epic EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
- Experience floating across multiple unit types within an acute care setting
