RN – PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)

Contract | Days | Expected 3 twelve-hour shifts per week with call coverage included in the rotation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide post-anesthesia recovery care for a diverse patient population across all age ranges, including recovery from General, Regional, and Conscious Sedation procedures
- Manage airways including OAW, NAW, OETT, and extubation; provide ventilator, trach, and OETT care
- Perform hemodynamic monitoring and initiate and maintain drips including Heparin, Sedation, and Pressors
- Support OB/GYN recovery including Fundal Massages, Post-Partum Hemorrhage Management, and management of common OB complications
- Manage a broad range of surgical specialties including Critical Care, Pediatrics, Cardiac, Ortho/Neuro, General, Urology, Plastics, ENT, and in-unit PACU procedures
- Participate in call rotation including 2–3 weeknight call shifts per four-week schedule and every 4th weekend (rotating Days/Nights); must be able to report to the unit within 30 minutes when called
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in good standing
- ACLS certification required
- PALS certification required
- CPR certification required
- Experience with drain management including Cranial, Spinal, Hemovacs, and Chest Tubes
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility (measured from the address on the candidate's Driver's License) to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Malignant Hyperthermia recognition and management
- Knowledge of post-op pain, nausea, and blood pressure medications, as well as medications used during general anesthesia
- Vascular experience including post-op Carotid care, neuro assessments, sheath removal, site monitoring, and A-line maintenance and removal
- Experience with Bladder Irrigation Maintenance
