Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for oncology, hematology, and medical-surgical overflow populations across all age groups
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and maintain professional accountability
- Administer and manage chemotherapy regimens; demonstrate competence in drug titration — Chemo Certification required
- Float on a rotational basis within the med-surgical cluster as needed
- Maintain patient rights, confidentiality of patient information, and practice consistent with applicable nursing standards and the Missouri Nurse Practice Act
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or hold an active Missouri RN license
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Chemo Certification required
- NIHSS certification required — candidates may be submitted without it, but must obtain prior to start date
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient Med-Surg/Oncology or inpatient Oncology experience
- Flu vaccination (or facility-approved exemption) required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Background in med-surg, oncology, and/or infusion nursing
- Experience with EPIC EMR
- Comfort care and hematology patient experience
- Self-driven, compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment
