Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-acuity nursing care in a CVICU setting with patient ratios of 1:2 and occasionally 1:1, caring for heart and lung transplant recipients, LVAD patients, and post-ACB and valve surgery patients
  • Titrate vasoactive and other cardiac drips as required by patient condition
  • Operate and monitor advanced cardiac and critical care devices including LVAD, CRRT/SLED, Impella, and IABP
  • Collaborate within an intensivist model alongside respiratory therapy staff assigned to the unit and PCAs
  • Maintain hardwire monitoring and respond to patient telemetry needs
  • Float to other units as needed based on competency and census

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license valid in the state of Texas (or compact eligibility)
  • Minimum 3+ years of ICU experience, with a background in a high-volume hospital setting
  • CRRT training required
  • Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
  • Ability to titrate drips independently, including all vasoactive drips for cardiac patients
  • Must be flexible with scheduling based on unit needs, including every-other-weekend (EOW) and 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with advanced cardiac devices including LVAD, Impella, and IABP
  • Familiarity with heart and lung transplant patient populations
  • Experience in a Level 1 Trauma or large academic medical center environment
