Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Open Heart Progressive Care)

Contract | Nights | 3x12 or 4x12 Hours (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Weekdays, every other weekend required | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide progressive care nursing for post-operative open heart and cardiothoracic surgical patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring in a 29-bed unit
- Assist with, manage, and support removal of chest tubes; maintain and monitor central lines
- Operate and manage external and internal pacemakers; utilize wound vac equipment as required
- Maintain a 4:1 patient ratio, delivering safe and effective care in a fast-paced cardiac environment
- Accept Med/Surg overflow patients as needed and float within scope to meet facility needs
- Document all patient care accurately using Cerner electronic health records
Required Qualifications
- Active WV RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Demonstrated experience with chest tube insertion assistance, management, and removal; central line experience required; external/internal pacemaker and wound vac experience required
- COVID-19 vaccination required; medical/religious exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions must be supported by documentation
- Must have a permanent address greater than 100 miles from the facility; candidates between 75–100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a progressive care, stepdown, or PCU setting with a cardiothoracic or open heart patient population
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records
- Experience working in a Level IV Trauma Center or major teaching hospital environment
