Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care across ICU float cluster units, including medical/surgical/trauma ICU, cardiothoracic ICU (lung transplants, ECMO), and neuro ICU, maintaining a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Float independently among all ICU areas as well as MedSurg/Telemetry units, including sister campuses; floating is an expected and non-negotiable component of this role
- Manage all critical drips and operate all types of respiratory support equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
- Read and interpret telemetry strips using GE monitoring equipment; Tele ratio is 1:4
- Complete all patient reports at the bedside and perform a quality two-person skin assessment within the first four hours of each shift
- Pass a Day 1 SIMs Lab (pass/fail) covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strict sterile field technique; also complete educational modules on lifts, restraints, and wound care
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
- Level I Trauma experience is required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must successfully pass an Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam with a score of 80% or higher within 2 attempts prior to contract start
- Must be competent in sterile field technique, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing changes
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- 4 weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) required per 4-week scheduling period; holiday shifts required based on unit needs
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a Level I trauma center and/or teaching hospital setting preferred due to patient complexity and acuity
- NIHSS certification preferred but not required
- Experience with ECMO and lung transplant patient populations is a plus
- Comfort with digital communication tools (e.g., group messaging apps) for receiving shift assignments remotely
