Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Room environment treating an average of 70 patients per day, including pediatric, cardiac, stroke, trauma, and general ER presentations
• Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3–4 depending on acuity, caring for both active ER patients and intermixed holds
• Administer and monitor common ER drips including pressors and sedation; troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as nasal cannula, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and ventilators
• Perform and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently, as no monitor technicians are present; perform EKGs as needed
• Staff triage and Fast Track areas as assigned; may be asked to precept staff as needed by the unit
• Must pass the ADVANCED Dysrhythmia exam (minimum score 83%) prior to contract start; three attempts are permitted

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for the state of Texas
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms independently
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility within the CommonSpirit Health system, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with STEMI and stroke receiving workflows in a Level III Trauma Center setting
• Familiarity with pediatric emergency care, including management of pediatric holds and coordination with transfer teams for higher-acuity pediatric cases
• Experience managing psychiatric patients in an emergency setting; note that RNs are not responsible for arranging psychiatric placement — dedicated staff handle screening and inpatient placement coordination
