RN (Registered Nurse) – PACU

Contract | Days | Mixed 8- and 12-hour shifts (shift times vary; on-call requirements apply)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Phase 1 and Phase 2 post-anesthesia recovery care in a 15-bed PACU setting
- Recover a mixed surgical patient population, including daily pediatric patients and patients with disabilities, with sensitivity and individualized care
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 for standard cases and 1:1 for pediatric or higher-acuity patients
- Manage patients requiring ventilator support, vasopressors, and blood products as needed for ICU-level holds
- Perform cardiac strip interpretation and support patient transport as required
- Participate in on-call coverage: up to 1–2 weeknights per 6-week schedule (max 8 on-call shifts per 6-week period) and 24 hours of weekend call per 6-week schedule; 30-minute call response time required
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure applicable to the state of practice
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- PALS certification required
- Ability to recover pediatric patients and willingness to second-phase patients out of the OR
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 3 or more years of PACU experience strongly preferred
- Experience recovering ICU-level patients, including those on vented support, vasopressors, and blood products
- Familiarity with a broad range of OR case types (all specialties except transplant)
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player with a collaborative, patient-centered approach
