Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations within 48 hours of initiation, establishing appropriate goals relative to each patient's prior level of function and developing individualized treatment plans
- Implement effective physical therapy interventions utilizing current methodologies, with ongoing assessment of treatment effectiveness and modification of goals and treatment as appropriate
- Provide patient and family education using a variety of teaching methods appropriate to the patient's level of understanding, documenting education and outcomes per department policy
- Maintain accurate, timely, and concise documentation including progress notes, billing, timecards, productivity logs, and other departmental records in accordance with department policy
- Communicate and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and physicians regarding patient status, treatment plans, and changes in condition; verify payor guidelines and authorizations as needed
- Delegate to and supervise support staff and students appropriately within licensure and practice standards; manage time effectively to meet department productivity standards
Required Qualifications
- Active California Physical Therapist (PT) license required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Demonstrated competency in physical therapy for adult and geriatric patient populations
- Ability to complete evaluations, develop treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions utilizing current and effective methodologies
- Travelers are expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's); holiday scheduling is subject to manager discretion and time-off requests will be considered
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Orthopedic physical therapy experience strongly preferred
- Experience working with young adult or youth populations in an outpatient setting
- Familiarity with sports rehabilitation techniques and specialized treatment interventions
