Key Responsibilities
- Provide stepdown-level care for general medical and oncology stepdown patients in a progressive care unit setting
- Administer chemotherapy via IV and perform IV starts as required
- Utilize EPIC for clinical documentation and Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps for patient monitoring and medication delivery
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6, with support staff available when ratios flex higher; chemo admissions may decrease assignment ratios
- Float to other med/surg areas, including general med/surg and emergency department, to care for med/surg patients as needed
- Work every other weekend as assigned; remaining scheduling may be managed through self-scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan RN License
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Minimum of 2 years of PCU/Stepdown experience
- Must be available and on-site for the first two weeks of the assignment
- Supervisor-level references required
- Proof of flu vaccination required; exemption requests must be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
- Local candidates are welcome; no radius restrictions apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Oncology and/or chemotherapy administration experience
- ONCC or ONS certification
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records system
