Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36- and 48-hour contracts accepted | Contract lengths of 13–26 weeks considered
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric general Med/Surg patients with a daily census of approximately 43, maintaining a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Administer and monitor Heparin drips, perform Wound Vac dressing changes, and manage High Flow Oxygen therapy; occasional short-term BiPap with respiratory support
- Float to similar units and alternate care locations, including inpatient holding areas, as needed
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed and work every other weekend; must be available to work holidays
- Attend mandatory monthly unit team meetings (4th Wednesday, January–October at 5:30 PM; 3rd Wednesday in November–December at 5:30 PM); night shift staff also attend additional meetings at 7:30 AM on the Friday immediately following each Wednesday meeting
- May be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and expected to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters; unit reassignment mid-contract is possible
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license (pending licensure considered for submission)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Must be available to work holidays (expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays)
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are welcome; a local pay rate will apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- CPI certification preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred, particularly for night shift candidates
- Familiarity with PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR communication framework
- First-time travelers are accepted and encouraged to apply
