Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend expected
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Cardiac PCU setting managing conditions including myocardial infarction, primary arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, heart failure, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
- Care for pre- and post-operative open-heart surgery and vascular surgery patients, including sternal precautions and chest tube setup and management
- Perform telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Administer blood and blood products; manage groin and radial band sites post-cath lab procedures
- Support specialized structural heart patients including VAD and TAVR patients; perform epicardial pacer management and cardioversion/defibrillation as needed
- Float to like units as needed; flexibility with scheduling including holiday coverage is expected (expected commitment of 3 of 5 designated holidays)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license; compact license must be in hand at time of submission
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic EMR proficiency is a hard-stop requirement
- Minimum 2 years of experience required; must include surgical telemetry experience with open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, and NIH stroke scale application
- This unit does not accept first-time travelers; prior travel nursing experience is required
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) and TAVR management
- Experience with CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, and breathing treatments
- LVAD and open-heart post-op care within 24–28 hours of surgery
