Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 14-bed Medical/Surgical unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including CHF, hypertension, chest pain workups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
• Titrate drips including analgesics for pain management, anticoagulants for blood clot treatment, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
• Independently read and interpret telemetry strips and escalate concerns to a physician as appropriate, as no monitor techs are present on the unit
• Operate and monitor respiratory therapy equipment including CPAP, BiPap, high flow, and ventilators
• Fulfill weekend and holiday scheduling requirements; expected minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Float to other units and fulfill on-call or standby requirements as determined by nurse management and departmental needs

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the state of Colorado (or compact eligibility)
• Current BLS certification required
• Current ACLS certification required
• Ability to titrate IV drips independently
• Comfort reading telemetry strips and escalating appropriately without monitor tech support
• Must live at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; valid driver's license must be submitted
• Clinicians must be present in-state for the full week of orientation, even if initial modules are conducted remotely

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience working in a rural hospital setting with an understanding of limited resources and typically lower patient volumes
• Experience managing a diverse Med/Surg patient population including cardiac, pulmonary, and gastrointestinal diagnoses
• Familiarity with respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPap, high flow, and ventilators
