Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for an adult to geriatric population in a cardiac stepdown/overflow IMCU setting with a 1:5–6 patient ratio on a 32-bed unit
- Manage cardiac conditions including CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia), post cardiac cath, and TR Bands
- Administer and monitor continuous IV cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin, as well as diuretics, anticoagulants, and insulin drips
- Care for pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT), renal, DKA, and surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains); occasional vascular, ortho, or CVA overflow as needed
- Perform arrhythmia management and cardioversion within scope of practice
- Float within the facility within scope of practice as needed; on-call is rare with a 2-hour response time expectation
Required Qualifications
- Active Georgia RN license or valid Compact RN license required at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiac stepdown or a comparable setting — first-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Prior travel nursing experience required; must have demonstrated experience managing continuous IV cardiac medications as listed above
- Proficiency with Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- Local candidates are welcome and accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Epic EMR in a cardiac or stepdown environment
- Familiarity with TR Band management and post-cardiac cath care
- Background managing a broad Med/Surg patient population in addition to cardiac-focused care
- Basic arrhythmia interpretation and cardioversion experience
