Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to an adult and geriatric population in a cardiac stepdown/overflow IMCU setting with a 1:5–6 patient ratio on a 32-bed unit
- Manage and monitor continuous IV drip medications including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
- Perform arrhythmia management and cardioversion; care for patients with cardiac conditions including CHF, chest pain, stable A-Fib, SVT, and Bradycardia
- Care for patients with pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT), renal, and surgical conditions (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains); occasional vascular, post-cardiac cath, TR Band, DKA, ortho, and CVA overflow patients
- Apply TR Bands and perform all skills within the Med-Surg scope of practice as needed
- Float within the facility within scope of practice as needed; respond to rare call requirements within a 2-hour response time
Required Qualifications
- Active Georgia RN license or valid Compact RN license required at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience; first-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Demonstrated prior travel nursing experience required
- Demonstrated experience managing continuous IV drip medications as listed above — must be confirmed upon submission
- Local candidates are welcome and accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Proficiency with Epic EMR, Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework
- Experience in an IMCU, cardiac stepdown, or similar intermediate care setting
- Familiarity with basic arrhythmia interpretation and management
- Broad Med-Surg skill set with ability to adapt to diverse patient overflow needs
