Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, for patients with complex cardiothoracic conditions
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments incorporating physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs, and synthesize findings to guide the plan of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient outcomes, revise care plans, and promote continuity of care
• Organize and prioritize care according to patient and family needs, consulting appropriate resources for complex care issues, discharge planning, and unusual teaching needs
• Conduct patient and family education by assessing readiness and developmental level, and utilizing appropriate educational materials for the patient population
• Participate in unit goal development, performance improvement activities, and cost-effective care initiatives while promoting a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience
• Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of nursing

Preferred Experience / Skills

• BSN or MSN from an accredited school of nursing
• Experience in a cardiothoracic or cardiovascular intensive care setting
