Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 15-bed main ED and 6-bed fast track area, managing a typical patient ratio of 1:4 (up to 1:5 with hall beds)
• Triage patients at the bedside and within designated triage rooms, as assigned per shift
• Titrate critical drips including norepinephrine, propofol, diltiazem, heparin, epinephrine, midazolam, fentanyl, amiodarone, and phenylephrine
• Independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips (Nihon Kohden monitors); no monitor techs on unit
• Draw all patient labs independently, with the exception of type and cross/screen (completed by phlebotomy)
• Administer high-flow oxygen via nasal cannula and NRB; collaborate with Respiratory Therapy for ventilator and BiPAP management

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in West Virginia
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience
• Demonstrated competency titrating critical care drips in an emergency setting

Preferred Experience / Skills

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification preferred
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Prior trauma experience strongly preferred
• Experience with an elderly patient population and common diagnoses such as chest pain, stroke-like symptoms, altered mental status, and respiratory distress
