Description

Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Shift & Schedule

  • Night shifts, 3 shifts per week (3x12 hour shifts)
  • Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
  • No on-call required
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs
  • No block scheduling accommodation
  • Locals accepted
  • Holiday time off restrictions apply (no time off the day before, of, or after holidays)
  • Maximum 5 total days off in 13-week assignment (no additional time off after contract start)

Patient Care & Ratios

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5, with possible 1:6-7
  • Units may care for patients with mental health diagnoses
  • Top diagnoses/procedures: altered mental status, congestive heart failure (CHF), stroke, orthopedic, surgical patients, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), infections
  • Cardiac care required with self-rating of 3 or above; basic dysrhythmia training preferred (self-rating 3 or above)

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross accepted; required for Telemetry/PCU, ER, ICU/CCU, PACU, OR; preferred but not required for Observation unit
  • NIH Stroke Certification preferred (required for Med Surg, ER, ICU)
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM) required only for specific pediatric or maternity units, not required here

Licensure

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Oklahoma required
  • Pending licenses not accepted

Facility & Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital, Level 3 Trauma Center
  • 171 staffed beds
  • Charting system: EPIC
  • Free parking available
  • Zero-fault attendance policy: missed shifts count as unexcused; 2 missed shifts = warning, 3+ may result in cancellation

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start (7-year criminal search, multiple county checks)
  • Copy of diploma or transcript required (cannot be pending)
  • Education verification required if transcript/diploma unavailable
  • Physical exam within 1 year stating "cleared to work" with physician signature
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or chest X-ray within 5 years if prior positive)
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug test within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative results)
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - May 1)
  • Two professional references required prior to start
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exam required for unit
  • Completion of facility-specific training modules prior to start
  • Badge photo required before start (plain white background, no filters)

Additional Notes

  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week
  • Must comply with facility attendance and time-off policies strictly
  • Floating within scope expected to meet unit needs

This position is ideal for experienced hospital RNs with cardiac and telemetry skills seeking a night shift travel assignment in an acute care setting.
