Description

 

Shift: Day, 3x12
Contract: 6 weeks (12/22/25 – 1/20/26)

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care by ensuring that individualized nursing plans are developed, implemented, and consistently followed. The RN supervises LPNs, CNAs, and orientees while promoting a safe, positive, and collaborative care environment aligned with Select Medical’s Core Values and “Safety First” culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission to establish individualized plans of care.
  • Identify patient/family learning needs and develop education goals tailored to diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Provide timely, accurate clinical updates for initial and weekly interdisciplinary team conferences.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and promptly according to policy.
  • Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—with a strong emphasis on patient/family education.
  • Initiate discharge planning on admission and prepare patients/families for transition throughout the stay.
  • Ensure continuous communication regarding patient condition changes to physicians, charge nurses, and the care team.
  • Seek guidance from senior nursing staff for complex clinical situations as needed.
  • Provide leadership, training, and task delegation to ancillary nursing personnel using effective problem-solving, prioritization, and time management.
  • Promote patient and employee safety, adhering to the 10-Foot Circle of Safety and protocols regarding patient handling, infection control, fall prevention, and environmental safety.
  • Support unit function by maintaining calm, effective communication with staff, patients, families, and other departments.
  • Report supply, equipment, and training needs to leadership and assist in cost-effective resource use.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities when assigned.
  • Pursue ongoing professional growth through continuing education and self-directed learning.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • BLS Certification – required
  • ACLS – required for CIRH facilities only
  • Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience
  • ICU experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain safety, uphold core values, and contribute to a collaborative team environment
