Guaranteed Hours: 36 hrs/week
Charting: Cerner
Unit Details – Family Birthing Center (LDRP)
- Unit Type: L&D / Postpartum / OB / LDRP
- Beds:
- 10 L&D beds
- 2 C-section OR suites
- 3 OB-ED triage + 3 antepartum testing
- 12 postpartum beds
- Birth Volume: 100–150 births/month
- Ratios:
- Couplet: 1:3–4
- L&D: 1:1–1:2
- Antepartum: 1:1–3
- High-risk unit, full-scope LDRP care
- All RNs must be able to circulate C-sections
Required Experience / Skills
- Minimum 2 years recent L&D experience
- Must be able to:
- Circulate all C-sections
- Float to Mother/Baby
- Manage full LDRP start-to-finish care
- Interpret fetal monitoring (GE Corometric – Fetalink)
- Read mom EKG strips in PACU
- Titrate Pitocin
- Can your candidate “catch the baby”? (NRP baby-catcher role) – Confirm at submittal
- Couplet care experience required
Certifications Required
- AHA BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN-Advanced)
- STABLE preferred
Staffing & Support
- OB surgical techs on unit
- OB hospitalist 24/7
- Neonatologist on call 24/7
- Anesthesia in-house 24/7
- RT: No vents
- Charge RN available; usually non-patient-taking
Scheduling / Float / Other
- Shift starts 06:45, bedside report
- OT & extra shifts available
- EOW + rotate holidays
- Call response time: 30 minutes
- Floating: May float to other Sacramento sister facilities (rare mid-shift float)
- Scrubs provided
